Be careful, listen to your instructor, respect others, and … BE CAREFUL! We want to sign our work with pen or chisel, not DNA.
I will always respect others and encourage them.
I will have a GREAT time and build some REALLY COOL STUFF!
I will always wear eye protection in the shop. Always.
I will not swear, or talk in an inappropriate manner.
I will always listen to my instructor.
I will never pick up a piece of hot metal! It hurts!!
I will never put my hand or any other part of me in front of a sharp blade. That hurts too!!!
I will never push the “on” button for any power tool.
I will always wear appropriate clothing for the project that I am working on.
I will always ask how to do something instead of assuming and will never use a tool that I have not received instruction on.
I will always report any injury or any damage to equipment so that we can keep the work area safe.
I will never run or push others in the shop.
I will agree to all of the above because Kilroy’s Workshop is a fun place, and getting hurt is just a huge DRAG!
Saws and chisels are meant to cut, and they don’t know the difference between wood and skin. Our forges get to about 2,500 F. That’s hot – like seriously hot. Also, metal that is hot will turn red, but when it goes back to black…it’s still hot for a really long time! You can’t tell just by looking at it.
Safety is our top priority. Any violation of these rules can result in removal from class.
